Marvel at China’s most famous and awe-inspiring sights. You will visit the grand imperial palaces of Beijing, explore the iconic Great Wall and marvel at the famous Terracotta Warriors of Xian, while a visit to Shanghai offers boundless glamour and shopping.
DAY 1 LONDON
Fly from London to Beijing.
DAY 2 BEIJING
Arrive in the morning and transfer to the courtyard style Bamboo Garden hotel for 4 nights. (You can upgrade to the first class Hotel Kapok or deluxe Raffles for a supplement.) Day is at leisure to rest and refresh after your long flight.
DAY 3 BEIJING
Start the day off at Tian An Men Square, before spending a few hours with your guide exploring the magnificent Forbidden City. In the afternoon, enjoy a walking tour of the Hutongs with a visit to Prince Gong’s Mansion. Unwind in the evening over a Peking duck meal.
DAY 4 BEIJING
A three-hour drive takes you away from the crowds to one of the most authentic and impressive stretches of the Great Wall. You have the option of taking a short hike or a longer 10 K hike for some amazing views.
DAY 5 BEIJING
This morning visit the Temple of Heaven, and watch as crowds of locals practice their Tai Chi on the grounds of this historical site. Visit the Summer Palace in the afternoon and enjoy a boat ride on the Kunming Lake.
DAY 6 BEIJING - XIAN
Fly to Xian this morning and check into the first class Tang Paradise hotel for two nights. Afterwards visit the sights of Xian, including the Big Goose Pagoda, Great Mosque and the bustling Muslim Quarter.
DAY 7 XIAN
Start off your day with the amazing Terracotta Warriors, learning about the history of this incredible archaeological treasure from your guide. Explore the City walls in the afternoon. Finish the evening taking in the spectacularly colourful Tang Dynasty singing and dancing show. Dinner is a dumpling banquet after the show.
DAY 8 XIAN - SHANGHAI
Fly to Shanghai in the morning. Take the Maglev, the world’s fastest commercial train and check into the first class period Ruijin Hotel for 2 nights. Afternoon is at leisure
DAY 9 SHANGHAI
Walk along the famous ’Bund’ in the morning, followed by a visit to Shanghai Museum and Urban Planning centre. This afternoon visit the Yu Gardens and surrounding market area. Enjoy a performance by Chinese€robats in the evening
DAY 10 LONDON
Transfer to the airport in the morning for your flight to London arriving the same evening.
