This 13-day itinerary is an excellent introduction to some of Colombia's most spectactular colonial towns, cultural gems and natural beauty. Starting in Colombia's capital, Bogota, you can explore the old and new districts, and then head to the highlands of the coffee region, home to some of the world's best-loved coffee beans. Take a flight to Colombia's Caribbean coast where you can relax on the tropical beaches of Tayrona National Park, lapped by crystal clear waters, before heading off to explore Colombia's colonial highlight, Cartagena.
Fly direct from London to Bogota, staying for 2 nights in this modern and vibrant city still awash with Colombian cultural delights.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit the historic district of Bogota, La Candelaria. Here you will see many old Spanish colonial properties with secluded gardens. During this tour you will stop off at the Plaza de Bolviar where a statue of Simon Bolivar, the liberator, is situated. In the plaza there is also a cathedral which is made on the remains of the first church in Bogota dating back to 1539. Another place to see here is the Capilla del Sagrario which boasts great architecture and is home to some art work by Gregorio Vasquez de Arce y Ceballos. Afterwards, you will visit the Museo Botero which houses pieces of art by Fernando Botero as well as, Picasso, Renoir, Monet, Dali and Matisse. The Museo del Oro, opened in 1939, will also be visited which is home to 32, 000 pieces of gold and many stones and ceramics. The last stop will be at the Santuario de Montserrate, accessible by cable car and boasting incredible views back over the city.
Drive via the underground salt cathedral at Zipaquira to the pretty town of Villa de Leyva, staying at the Posada de San Antonio. On your journey to the hotel you will stop off to see the largest cross created from salt in the world and a mirror of water! Overnight in the colonial town of Villa de Leyva at the Posada San Antonio.
Return to Bogota, stopping off at Fossil, Infiernito and the Convento Ecce Homo and afterwards fly to Pereira for a three night stay in Colombia's coffee triangle at Casa de Huespedes Sazagua.
You will start the day by visiting the coffee plantations which are a UNESCO site. Along the way you will visit Hacienda Venecia to see first-hand the production process including; the harvest and drying. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to enjoy yourself.
Free day in the coffee region to relax or take an optional excursion to Los Nevados national park.
Fly to Cartagena via Bogota and stay 3 nights in Colombia's jewel in the crown. Enjoy the fascinating sights and sounds within Cartagena's old town walls, including a city tour
Today you will start by visiting the Monasterio and Iglesia de la Popa from where you can enjoy great views of the city, port and sea. Afterwards, you will visit the San Felipe fortress on San Lazaro hill which was created in honour of the poet from the city, Don Luis Carlos Lopez. To end the day, you will visit the handicraft district, Bovedas, which was once used as a prison. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Land transfer to Santa Marta and on to Tayrona National Park for 3 nights at Tayrona Eco Habs.
