Oman...Beauty has an address

Sweeping deserts, majestic fjords, lofty mountains, endless beaches – get ready to be seduced by the romance of Oman, authentic Arabia…

Imagine: sun-soaked shores lapped by turquoise oceans; souks heady with scents of exotic herbs and spices; dramatic peaks and canyons ripe for exploring; and dunes rippling off into the distance like a magical fairytale… Everyone wants somewhere special to explore on honeymoon, and the Sultanate of Oman offers a unique blend of culture, adventure and romance.

City pampering

There's no better jumping-off point for your Arabian odyssey than Muscat, Oman's capital. Founded over 900 years ago, the sea-faring city is backed by mountains and is rich in history. Two 16th-century forts (Jalali and Mirani) built by Portuguese traders guard the Sultan's Palace in Old Muscat; nearby Bait Al Zubair, a traditional Omani house turned museum, gives you an authentic taste of life for the ordinary Omani, as will the winding alleys of the bustling Mutrah souk and a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque (where 20,000 people can worship at once).
While you're in town, make sure you sample the diverse cuisine - world-class restaurants and bars serve authentic Omani food as well as fine international fare. Oman also has some fabulous spas and uber-luxurious hotels, where you can set the dial to 'pamper' before heading off to explore…

Desert dwelling

Huge, sweeping golden dunes - up to 200m high - embody the epic landscapes of the Wahiba Sands. This is the desert of your dreams, and the place for authentic Arabian Nights adventure. The desert runs for 200km from Eastern Hajar to the Arabian Sea. Visit for a day from historic Nizwa - the old capital - or stay overnight in one of the luxurious desert camps under star-lit skies. There's nowhere quite like it - explore in true Bedouin fashion atop a camel or in more modern 4WD.

Active amour

Riddled with hidden riverbeds, canyons and excellent trekking and rock-climbing, the Hajar Mountains are a must for outdoorsy couples. There's excellent rock-climbing and trekking, especially around Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams. Stay at The View, Oman's first-of-its-kind eco-luxe retreat and don't miss the trek to the Grand Canyon of Oman, Wadi Nakhr Gorge. Snake Canyon at the far end of Wadi Bani Awf is incredible too if you're feeling daring and want to try via ferrata climbing.

If you don't have a head for heights, get your heart racing by 'wadi-bashing' in a 4WD instead. Wadis are dry, narrow riverbeds that run through the mountains, hiding secret pools and waterfalls - perfect for a secluded picnic.
For the best in adventure and luxury, combine desert exploring, mountain trekking and the coast by staying in luxurious mobile camps. While you're choosing a spot to watch the sunset, Hud Hud Travel will pitch your camp anywhere you like, from mountaintop to shoreline.

Hitting the beach

There are Arabian adventures to be had by the beach too - Oman has 3,165km of pristine coastline to chose from.
Separated from the rest of Oman by a sliver of the UAE, Musandam is a starkly beautiful region with traditional fishing villages, isolated cliff-side outposts and idyllic beaches. Sail out from Khasab for whale and dolphin spotting, or get closer to the action paddling the fjords in canoes or aboard a romantic dhow boat. There are world-class diving and snorkelling sites in these waters; swim with exotic reef fish, schooling barracuda, reef and even whale sharks. Night dives at shallow wrecks such as Bandar Jussa are hard to beat.

Remote romance

Dhofar, in southern Oman, is for the wild at heart - a remote region famed for its frankincense trees, trading history, pristine beaches, romantic resorts and wildlife. The landscape around Salalah is lush thanks to the annual Indian monsoon, known as Khareef. Watch out for glimpses of the rare Arabian leopard and oryx in the nature reserves, as well as gazelle, wolves, chameleons and a multitude of birds. Five species of turtle lay their eggs on Oman's shores; watch hatchlings emerge at daybreak, May-October, at one of the many protected beaches.
And to top it all, Oman is only a direct, seven-hour flight away with Oman Air. What are you waiting for?
