Love is all around us, and nowhere more so than in nature! There are heart-shaped reefs, mangrove swamps, lakes, caves... and islands you can visit all over the world. For a naturally romantic honeymoon, try one of these heart-shaped hide-aways:

1. Tupai Island

French Polynesia

Tupai is an uninhabited atoll 19km from Bora Bora in the Leeward Islands group of the Society Islands. You can't stay on Tupai, but it's a wonderful dive site. Pure white-sand beaches frame a shallow lagoon and make for a pretty special get-away.

Visit between August and November and, if you're lucky, you might see a migrating humpback whale or two.

2. Makepeace Island

Queensland, Australia

Makepeace Island, an exclusive island retreat owned by Sir Richard Branson, is a luxuriously heady hide-away found just upstream from cosmopolitan Noosa Heads on Australia's Sunshine Coast. The heart-shaped island accommodates up to 22 guests in the height of luxury.

3. Tavarua Island

Fiji

Few places sound more romantic than the South Pacific; heart-shaped Tavarua island resort lives up to this reputation. Tavarua is close to Fiji's main island (Viti Levu) and if you love surfing, you're in for a treat. There are seven world class surfing breaks available if you're staying on Tavarua. Found off Croatia's Dalmatian coast, close to Zadar, Galesnjak Island has been popularly renamed Lovers' Island after its perfect heart-shape was discovered on Google Earth in 2008. The island is uninhabited, making it a great (and deserted) spot for a romantic picnic.
